Matthew Shock

It is with deep sadness and regret that we announce the unexpected death of Fiske’s Matthew Shock earlier this month.

Matthew, 60, had worked with us for 36 years, joining as an Investment Manager in 1988 – just a year after graduating from Bristol University, where he had studied history. He was respected and valued by colleagues and clients alike and will be missed.

Fiske CEO James Harrison said: “This has come as a profound shock to all of us. Matthew was one of the longest-serving members of the company, intelligent, sociable and always willing to help.”

Outside of work Matthew enjoyed watching cricket and still had a love of history. Both passions – and his interest in the wider world – made him good company and also an excellent person to have on the Fiske quiz team.

James added: “A particular fond memory I have of Matthew is the part he played at the annual Capital Access quiz. We won in four out of the five years we competed. Matthew was so integral to the team that we only lost the year he couldn’t make it. His death has been deeply felt by his family, friends and colleagues.”
